​​Kids will learn strategic thinking, and understand the game's principles. With a blend of patience, encouragement, and structured lessons, we aim to empower learners to navigate the complexity of chess with confidence and skill.

Ian Harris is a National Master chess player and the founder of RedBandit Chess, a chess education program dedicated to helping students of all ages develop both chess skills and critical thinking abilities. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he played on the university’s renowned chess team, Harris has coached hundreds of students ranging from beginners to advanced competitors. He is a three-time Connecticut State Chess Champion and has achieved a peak rating of 2364. In addition to private coaching and school programs, Harris also serves as Head Coach of the Sacred Heart University chess team and regularly organizes tournaments and training programs. His teaching philosophy emphasizes using chess to build strategic thinking, focus, and executive-function skills that benefit students far beyond the game itself.
